Cross Draft Spray Booths: A cross draft booth draws air horizontally from the front of the booth, across the operator/parts. The air exits the booth through a filtered exhaust plenum at the rear of the booth. The cross draft booth is commonly used small and large equipment, cabinet shops and high production conveyorized lines. This design is popular due to its simple design, good finish quality and low purchase price.
Down Draft Spray Booths: A down draft booth draws air vertically from the top of the booth, across the operator/parts. The air exits the booth through a filtered exhaust pit in the floor of the booth. The down draft booth is commonly used for large equipment, vehicle refinishing and when the highest quality finish is required. This design typically costs more than a cross draft booth, but offers a higher quality finish on large equipment.
Side Down Draft Spray Booths: A side down draft booth draws air vertically from the top of the booth, across the operator/parts. The air exits the booth through filtered exhaust plenums located in the booth side walls near the floor of the booth. The side down draft booth is commonly used in the same applications as the down draft booth. The cost of the side down draft booth is similar in price to the down draft booth. This design is typically used in applications where down draft is required, but a pit cannot be excavated due to obstructions or cost.
“Modified” Down Draft Spray Booths: A “modified” down draft booth draws air vertically from the top third of the booth and travels horizontally across the operator/parts. The air exits the booth through filtered exhaust plenum located at the rear of the booth. The “modified” down draft booth a hybrid of down draft and cross draft air flow. The cost of the side down draft booth is similar in price to the cross draft booth. This design is typically used in applications where there are space constraints or when an end user wants some of the benefits of down draft with out the cost. |
